What happened?

On Saturday afternoon, October 9, 2010, the Mark and Tami Clanton home, in St. Johns, AZ, caught fire. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

The Clanton's neighbors, Quinn Ashton and Chris Waters, saw the fire in the back of the house, and alerted the couple inside.  Mark and Tami's grandson was not in the home at the time.  Another neighbor, Joe Romero, tried feverishly to put out the fire with a garden hose, while the fire department was called.
The four fire departments could not put out the fire because of ammunition blast from fire arms that were going off inside the home. The Clanton home is devastated with hardly anything salvageable.

No people were hurt in the fire, but unfortunately the Clanton's two dogs were killed.

Mark Clanton was taken to the hospital for smoke inhaliation, and to get his high blood pressure and diabetes checked. He was released a few hours later in good health.  Tami Clanton did not need medical attention.

Mark and Tami Clanton want to thank the E.M.T. response, the White Mountain Regional Medical center, the St. Johns, Concho, Springerville, Eagar fire departments, all the local churches, family, friends and neighbors for their loving help.

Mark and Tami are staying with their daughter at the Hill Crest apartments in St. Johns.
Donations are welcomed to be brought to them at Apt. 1-B.
